While the seat tube segments are out at the machinist to get milled down I fabricated a test segmented seat post to check for clearance with the massive Cane Creek rear shock. While it may seem like a little bit of overkill it allows me to miter all of the other tubes so that when the seat tube segments show up I can get right to brazing them.
The purpose of the segmented seat post was to allow for a shorter chainstay. The stock Ventana rear end is designed around a crazy tall bottom bracket height as well as a 450mm chainstay. By moving the pivot up and toward the bottom bracket it allows for me get a little bit lower bottom bracket height as well as 20mm shorter chainstay, which should liven up the handling of the bike.
