Twin Top

Transient

So I have been looking at the old school bikes with their twin top tubes and I suddenly had this inexplicable desire to make one for myself.  Thankfully I haven't brazed my frame together and with a quick run to the local metal supply store I am off to building a twin top tube MTB!  Typically I would use a double butted 1" to 1 1/4" top tube for most all of my bikes this time though I will be using two 5/8" thick tubes that are braced together at multiple points along their length.  Also to create that classic look I am going to be creating a bend along them all the way to the rear dropouts.  Hopefully, with the bracing along their length as well as the thicker tubes it will prove to be stiff enough.

Also for this bike I finished the rigid fork!  Again, this fork was kind of a knock-off of the old "Fat Chance" segmented forks.  What was different was that it was designed to fit over a 29" wheel and also be suspension corrected so it can be ridden on a bike that was designed for a 100mm travel fork.
