I just got Jason's frame back from getting clear coated and I must say it looks pretty sweet! Prepping, painting, masking and painting some more was definetely a pain the rear, but after it was clear coated it look fantastic!
Now that the frame has been finished the only thing that needs to be completed is prepping all of the attachment points. This means the bottom bracket shellneeds to be tapped and faced, the head tube needs to be reamed and faced, all of the water bottle bosses and rack mounts need to be tapped and the seat tube needs to be reamed. With the correct tools this is a relatively simple if time consuming process. By tapping and facing the head tube you ensure that the headset has a proper tight fit with the headtube, and any distoring caused by brazing iseliminated. The same goes for tapping and facing the bottom bracket shell by tapping and facing the shell you can ensure that either a square taper or external cup bottom bracket will have a good surface to mount to and help eliminate any creaking that might occure.
After that was finished, it was off to UPS to get the frame to its new owner!
